Just before the Grammy's, Katy Perry has released her new song "Chained to the Rhythm". The pop superstar teased her new single through the week and released it overnight along with a lyric video.
Long-time collaborator Max Martin and Ali Payami produced the song and there’s a guest appearance from Bob Marley’s grandson Skip Marley, who just signed to Island Records and released his own track "Lions". Aussie hitmaker Sia Furler is a surprise guest vocalist on the track. Perry co-wrote “Chained to the Rhythm” with Max Martin, Sia Furler, Ali Payami and Skip Marley.
"Chained to the Rhythm” is the first track from Perry's upcoming fourth album release, and her first single in six months. It’s the followup to "Rise," which synched with NBC's coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart, her 16th consecutive No. 1 on the survey.
In a global campaign for the new track, Perry's reps dropped disco balls in various locations and fans around the globe have hunted for mirrorballs and shared their treasure as part of a new promotional push.
Capitol Records confirmed that Perry will debut "Chained to the Rhythm" live at the 59th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (Feb 12). Skip Marley is expected to join her on stage. Until then you can preview the video here.
